ATLANTA – The Texas Department of Transportation is pleased to announce the Atlanta District is the recipient of the 2024 Texas Bluebonnet Safety Award.

On Wednesday, a message was sent out to the parents at Atlanta ISD High School telling the parents that a “terroristic threat” was found on the campus. The note was turned over to the campus administration by a student. The threat referenced specific students and their families. According to the letter at the time the individual had not been identified.
Counties have been around since before Texas became a state, and even before it was a republic. Under Spanish rule, the land was divided into municipios. When the Republic of Texas formed in 1836, those municipios became the first 23 counties.
On Thursday, January 30, one person was taken to a hospital after a wreck happened near Hughes Springs, involving two semi trucks and an SUV.
