Atlanta Lodge #463 installed officers for 2023-2024, Saturday, July 8, 2023. Officers installed were; Billy Fincher, Worshipful Master; Steve “Hoss” Harrington, Senior Warden; Chad Saulsbury, Junior Warden; Robert Dotson,Treasurer; Derek Wasson, Secretary; Virgil Trenado and Cecil McCraw as Deacons; and Curtis Heath as Tiler. Officers were installed by District Deputy Grand Master, Brian C. Cloninger and Jim Johnson.

George Echols showcases his Cass County grown watermelons last week in front of the Journal-Sun office.The Echols’family has harvested watermelons in Cass County for four generations. Echols said his largest watermelon harvested weighed 111 pounds, and that none of the melons go to waste around his place as they make preserves from the rind. (Photo by Tim Emmons)

A wide load 18-wheeler momentarily stopped traffic on William Street last week as it attempted to make its way through downtown Atlanta. Unless a delivery is being made, big trucks of this size and especially with this type of load are not permitted to drive through the downtown area. (Photo by Raydeen Edwards).
