The Coach that made a difference

After graduating from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Donna Walker sought a coaching job in Texas. A job came open at the high school in Atlanta, Texas. She had never been to Atlanta. Several college friends had gotten coaching positions here and alerted her about an opening. During the summer of 1986, Donna was hired to coach girls’ basketball, girls’ track, and girls’ volleyball. Her first coaching job was big and broad. She tackled the position as school began in August 1986.

November 7 Elections

Citizens in Cass County and Texas will have an opportunity to vote on November 7. Depending on where you live in Cass County you will find your ballot will have some differences. What will be the same no matter where you live will be the 14 state constitutional propositions.

See You at the Pole

Several from Bloomburg CISD participate in the See You at the Pole on September 27. According to the SYATP website,“See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grassroots movement with ten students praying at their school. Decades later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September. See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.”

Atlanta’s second annual Trail Grinder’s run achieved its objective Friday. The event’s purpose is to publicize a little- known disease Superficial Siderosis. One member of the local race family suffers from this disease.
