Work is continuing on the seven-year, $37.7 million project to replace bridges over the Sulphur River along State Highway 8 between Douglassville and Maud.
Northeast Texas has experienced abnormally high heat this August, with much of the state being under heat advisories. With the high heat and dry conditions Cass County continues to be under a burn ban. The good news is this week the area will receive a bit of a respite with temperatures around the low 90’s. Beginning Tuesday, September 5th (closed Monday, September 4th for Labor Day), Cass County residents can process their vehicle tag renewals five days per week at the Chamber of Commerce Office, located at 101 N East Street. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 9: 00 AM – 4:00 PM, closed from 12:00 – 1:00 PM for lunch.
