William Butler “Billy” Lee was born 18 September 1848, near Black Rock, Union County, South Carolina and died 05 May 1919. He is buried in Springdale Cemetery, Cass County, Texas. He was the son of William Cooper Lee and Lavinia [Eubanks] Lee of South Carolina. William Cooper Lee was the son of John Lee and Hannah [Cooper] Lee and his ancestry can be traced, via South Carolina and Virginia, to William Lee I, brother of Richard Lee I, from which descends the line of well-known Civil War General, Robert E. Lee. Lavinia [Eubanks] Lee’s parents were Elijah Eubanks and Mary Langston of South Carolina.
