A gift was given to the citizens of Linden, Texas last year in the form of their very first Public Library. New director Denise Haas held a new Re-Grand Opening on June 20 and has introduced new expanded hours and activities for area kids.
Cass County Commissioner Paul Cothren was elected president of the North & East Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association on July 15. The Association is a 74-county subregion of the County Judges and Judges Association of Texas (CJCAT).

Northeast Texas lost a longtime public servant Saturday night when David Bridges was tragically killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 30 in Royse City. Bridges, the Fifth District Court of Appeals Justice since 1996, had been campaigning earlier in the day with others vying for the nomination of candidate for the 4th Congressional District seat.
