Hometown attorney Tony Buzbee led a team in the case in defense of Kenneth Paxton, Jr., Attorney General of the State of Texas. On May 27, 2023, the Texas House of Representatives approved 20 articles of impeachment against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
On September 13, 2023, “Governor Greg Abbott today announced nine Fund for Veterans’ Assistance (FVA) grants totaling over $1.8 million were awarded to nine East Texas veteran service organizations as part of the Texas Veterans Commission’s (TVC) Big Check Tour. Presented today by TVC, the funding will provide services to more than 1,800 veterans and their families in over 30 counties in the FVA East Texas region.” Of that money, 600k went to two Cass County organizations, 300k to Community Services of Northeast Texas and the County of Cass for their new Veterans Services Office. CSNT though located in Cass County serves 19 counties.
