Gov. Greg Abbott, just hours after the Senate initially approved a school voucher measure, said he would add teacher raises and increased public school funding to the ongoing special session agenda if the Texas Legislature passes his voucher plan, the Texas Tribune reported.
On Oct. 7, Israel was attacked by Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip. It was an act that horrified the world. Gunmen gunned down unarmed dozens at an outdoor concert, murdered elderly Holocaust survivors, broke into homes to murder and kidnap civilians. The long list of atrocities committed cannot be repeated in a family newspaper. Hundreds of unarmed civilians were killed, including more than a dozen Americans. Once again, Israel has become the focus of violence in the Middle East as it launches its response in an effort to defend itself.

Concerning the Citizens Journal story published Aug. 30, 2023, Peggy and I started dating in high school in March 1951. We both married our spouses while in college. After their deaths, we are sweethearts again. Our relationship has covered 73 years, not 63 years. The uniqueness of our relationship is the 73 years. We had briefly seen each other once at a high school reunion 32 years ago.
