Our Chamber staff recently met with Andrea Johnson, a Partnership Specialist for the U.S. Census Bureau. Andrea’s job is basically to work with counties, cities, businesses and residents within her assigned territory to come up with a plan of action that leads to Census responses. Andrea’s enthusiasm truly sparked a fire in our team here at the Chamber, and we want to spread that spark to the rest of the county because this is an area where time is running out and action is extremely important!

Lacy's Lonestar Lowdown

In the weeks leading up to former U.S. Congressman John Ratcliffe’s inevitable confirmation after being tapped by President Donald J. Trump for Director of National Intelligence, the possibilities as to his replacement and the process of that replacement for the upcoming general election in November seemed riddled with contingency and excitement. Since Ratcliffe had already secured his place on the ballot, questions loomed. Would Governor Greg Abbott call a special election for Ratcliffe’s unexpired term? If not, how would Ratcliffe be replaced on the ballot? Would Atlanta’s mayor, Travis Ransom, consider throwing his hat in the ring?

LEDC Update

It’s a new day in Northeast Texas with new opportunities to serve our community. This Saturday, August 8th we’re having our second Farms to Families food drive courtesy of the USDA and our local Fairview Reunion Corporation. The drive will take place at the old Millstep building located on S. Main St. right next to our local public library and will start at approximately 8:00 a.m. We will be lining up cars and distributing fresh food in the same manner we did at the previous drive, so come out and get some delicious produce.
