Atlanta three-star athlete Markeylin Batton made a verbal commitment to play football for the Arkansas Razorbacks as part of its 2025 class. Batton also had offers from Missouri, Texas Tech, Houston, Michigan State, Oregon State, Austin Peay, UTSA, North Texas, Liberty, Louisiana Tech and Tulsa.

On Jan. 4, both Atlanta and Queen City powerlifters took part in the Redwater Boys’ Tri-Meet. Redwater won the event, QC was second and Atlanta was third.

McLeod hosted Harleton for a district battle on Jan. 19. The boys’ team ran its record to 28-2 after a 44-30 win and the Lady Longhorns topped Harleton 49-37.
