Barbara Gail Stow

January 14, 1944 - April 3, 2025

Barbara Gail Stow, age 81, of Atlanta, Texas, went to be with the Lord peacefully, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at her residence. Barbara was born January 14, 1944, in Atlanta, Texas, to James and Alma Fincher McCasland. She was a retired LVN, and a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

After finishing nursing school, Barbara worked at many facilities in the area, including Pine Lodge Nursing Home and Atlanta Memorial Hospital, before retiring. Her love of taking care of others extended to her many friends, family and church family. She kept plenty of ingredients stocked up so that she could be ready with a covered dish at a moment’s notice.

Barbara was well-known as someone who could make even the ugliest patch of grass into a beautiful wonderland. She worked daily in her yard and took great satisfaction in watching the fruits of her labor grow and blossom.

As with her flowers, so it was with her children and grandchildren. Barbara loved supporting them in all their sports and activities and took pride in their achievements. While she was their greatest fan, she could also be a strict disciplinarian and lay down the law.

When she wasn’t up to her elbows in dirt, Barbara was in her craft room, making things pretty. Her handmade quilts will be a warm reminder of her love.

She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Olivia McCasland; and by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, James Stow of Atlanta, Texas; children, Dena Moyers and husband Mike of Queen City, Texas, Stephen McDuff and wife Danna of Atlanta, Texas, Lori Moore and husband B.J. of Atlanta, Texas; stepchildren, Kate Stow of Atlanta, Texas, Harold Stow and wife Brandi of Caddo Mills, Texas; brothers Billy Carroll McCasland and wife Billie Fae of Atlanta, Texas; Robert McCasland of Atlanta, Texas; sister, Dianne Harrist and husband Mike of Atlanta, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Barnes of Atlanta, Joshua Moyers, and wife Kristen of Memphis, Tennessee, Christy and husband Ricky Jimenez of Redwater, Texas, Katherine McDuff of Irving, Texas, Matthew McDuff of Atlanta, Texas, Tanner Moore of Memphis, Tennessee, Patrick Moore and wife Lacie of Front Royal, Virginia, Ben Moore of Atlanta, Texas, Jeff Sullivan and wife Katie of Plano, Texas, Casey Sullivan and wife Courtney of Atlanta, Texas, and Colton Stow of Caddo Mills, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kyler Clayton and wife Macey of Atlanta, Kaydence Chamblee and her boyfriend, Blain Daniels, of Queen City, Texas, Rhyder Barnes of Atlanta, Texas, Mila Barnes of Atlanta, Texas, Zoe Moyers, Levi Moyers and Evan Moyers, all of Memphis, Tennessee, Gunner Jimenez of Redwater, Texas, Wailon Moore and Rylie Moore, both of Front Royal, Virginia, Ariana Sullivan and Jarek Sullivan, both of Plano, Texas, Jemma Sullivan and Jaci Sullivan, both of Atlanta, Texas; great-great-grandchildren, Ally Clayton and Cavin Clayton, both of Atlanta, Texas; her furbaby, Nora Belle; and a number of other relatives and host of friends, including her lifelong friend, JoAnn Dickins.
