Opposition to reservoir still strong

Marvin Nichols Reservoir is officially a part of the 2022 Texas State Water Plan, but the fight to stop the construction of the proposed reservoir is far from over. Those who have organized to oppose the construction of the mammoth 66,000-acre lake note that there is still plenty of time for them to be successful in their quest to keep it out of the Sulphur River Basin. Work is already underway in an effort to have the project removed from the 2027 State Water Plan.

Goodbye summer, hello new school year

As summer comes to a close and students gear up to return to school, we are reminded of the fun times we had this season. From monthly, themed block parties in Linden to Summerfest and fireworks in Atlanta for Fourth of July, Cass County rallied together to make this Summer a special one to remember. However, now it is time to shift the focus and get ready for an eventful, new school year.

Linden-Kildare offering free physicals to students

UIL posted an updated Medical History - Pre-Participation Physical Examination (PPE) form on the UIL website for the 2020-2021 school year. The major change involves new state law requirements related to informing parents of the ability to receive cardiac screening. In response, Linden-Kildare CISD is offering a special one-day Physical Clinic for free. The clinic will be held at the Linden United Methodist Church on July 29. Exams will be from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. You will need to pay $20 only if you also want an EKG. You must pre-register by turning in the UIL form at the L-K administration office by noon on Monday, July 26.
