Two popular local eateries closing
Two popular local eateries will be closing, one possibly permanently, the other potential for one year. Each has its unique reasons for closing, but both, are a trending pattern of challenges to the restaurant industry in general. Both ma and pa places and national restaurants alike are feeling the quasi-post-pandemic troubles due to changes in lifestyle, rising food costs, low inventory, supply demands, and worker shortages. Topp Hat’s Kickin’ Chicken will be closing for at least one year as the result of family health issues and Barbs Country Kitchen because of what is currently hurting the hospitality industry in general. Both businesses were always visibly busy.
Annual cruise night is Friday
The Seventh Annual Steven Smith Memorial Cruise Night will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. in downtown Atlanta on Friday, June 10.
Retired... and it feels so good!
A reception was held on May 23rd at the AISD offices to celebrate the retirement of Sidney Harrist and Dianne Whatley. Harrist has been employed with the school district afor 48 years; Whatley for 46 years. See more photos on page 2.
Flint’s Furniture opens new outlet store
Flint’s Furniture, a community furniture store, has now been open for seven years and is already expanding to provide the Cass County community with more choices, an even better selection, and a special place for clearance and scratch and dent items. Flint’s Outlet is in the old Sears building located at 301 E Main St in Atlanta, Texas. The Outlet will be celebrating their grand opening on June 23.
