It takes a village, or in this case, a community, to reach out to the homeless in these cold and Covid times. Thanks to the generosity of the Amity Study Club members and the residents of the Atlanta community, Cody Howard will be able to provide warmth to homeless individuals who are in need this winter. This is a real reason for the season. Merry Christmas. Pictured are left to right: Howard, Director of Mission Texarkana and Teri Lovely, President of Amity Study Club of Atlanta. Courtesy photo

Celebrate a Pineywoods Christmas at State Park

Enjoy an evening of cheer to remember throughout the year at our 8th annual Christmas in the Park! Come on out to see the park dressed in its holiday best! This year, in order to protect Santa and his elves, the event will be drivethrough only. Please stay warm and snuggly in your vehicle as you make your way through the twinkling lights and towering pines. Keep those letters to Santa handy and be sure to drop them in the North Pole mailbox.

Santa Slam

Santa Slam

The Queen City High School boys’ basketball program along with the varsity cheerleaders hosted the Second Annual Santa Slam on Dec. 8, at Eugene Sloan Memorial Gymnasium. Spectators were encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to the game in lieu of paying a fee for admission. When the Bulldogs scored their first points of the game, fans threw their stuffed animals onto the gym floor. All the toys collected will be used to help provide Christmas gifts for needy families in Cass County. Photo by PHYLLIS WARREN

It’s ‘snow’ fun!

Even though temps were not quite freezing, these area children enjoyed an impromptu snow during the Hometown Christmas festivities over the weekend. Below is just one of the many vendors at the Maker’s Market. Photo by Kate Stow
