For those who work as an EMT, firefighter, or are in law enforcement, every shift has the potential to be life-changing. Accidents can and do occur, and there is always the threat of being harmed by someone who bears them ill will. When the unthinkable happens, time can literally mean the difference between life and death.
Publishers Note: When I first came to the community I was asked to cover the yearly pageant that the Fine Arts Club did. The Club is located in the heart of Atlanta and is dedicated to serving the needs of African American youth. I was welcomed warmly and professionally and was very impressed with the work they are doing with the young men and women. You could tell the people in the organization truly loved the youth and have a strong desire to grow them up to be respectable members of our community.
The Eastern Cass County School Retirees Association met Tuesday morning, Feb. 10th, at Queen City First Methodist Church in celebration of black history month. Atlanta Middle School Principal, Colby Boyce, and Clifton Dickerson, originally of Atlanta, were guests at the event.
Two Atlanta legends were honored this past weekend. Ted Thompson, Atlanta High School graduate of 1971, and Ben Scharnberg, the winningest football coach in Atlanta school history, were both inducted into the 2020 East Texas Coaches Association (ETCA) Hall of Honor.
