A group of hardworking Linden citizens have begun to restore the old Legion Hall baseball field to a useable state. The work began as an effort to make the site function as a training field for a 12 & Under Linden softball team named “Total Chaos” that will be playing in an Atlanta, Texas softball league this season.
Farmer’s markets are becoming an important part of our nation’s communities. They can foster many important connections, such as farmer to consumer, rural to urban areas, but most importantly, they connect fresh ingredients to our diets. Indeed, they provide local residents access to fresh locally grown vegetables and fruits, local meats, baked goods, and so much more. These markets are also a wonderful place for neighbors to meet neighbors.
The month of March is Women’s History Month and while many talented and notable women call Linden home, there is one most may not have heard of. Her name is Marie Adams. She was born Ollie Marie Givens in Linden on Oct. 19, 1925.
Top o’ the mornin’ to you! This is Irish for good morning. Typically a holiday reserved to those of Irish descent, this green holiday is to honor Saint Patrick, a patron saint who ministered Christianity in Ireland during the 15th century. It became customary to wear green as a way to remember and honor Ireland. If a person did not wear green, they get pinched as a way to provoke shame. This American tradition of pinching dates back to the 1700’s. In honor of Saint Patrick’s Day, I have some tasty Irish recipes for all of Cass County to try! Grab your apron and a bit of green, and let’s get started.
